Text Box: Summary Description of  Masorah:
● Unlike other search programs, Masorah is fully aware of the vowels and tropes (both those in the 21 books/prose books and the Emes/poetic books) and can search for these in sophisticated ways. Moreover, Masorah has a rich set of counting functions. These capabilities are surprisingly absent from other Bible search engines. Masorah can be used as a serious research tool and may also be used as a teaching aid, allowing the instructor to easily locate almost any Hebrew language structure or construct.
A detailed description of Masorah's capabilities follows with links to a number of screen shots.
System Requirements:
● Windows XP or better
Graphics resolution of 1024 X 768 or better
.NetFramework 1.1 Redistributable or better. This is pre-installed on many computers, but it may also be downloaded for free at  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Search.aspx?displaylang=en
Unicode capabilities as good as Windows Word 2003 or better
Specifics and Capabilities of Masorah:
● The text used is the Leningrad Codex B19a. We constantly consulted the facsimile of the manuscript and believe that our text is more accurate than other versions including the BHS. Masorah separately gives the text of verses not found in the Leningrad Codex, but found in some other manuscripts.  Initial Window   Database Selection
● Trope patterns may be searched in almost any imaginable way in either of the two accentuation systems of the Tiberian pointing method. Normally methegs are ignored, but may be included in a search if desired.    Ethnachta - Siluk    Telishah Qatanah - Qadma - Geresh    Revia' Mugrash Without Geresh     With Masorah a selection of text may be pasted in, its trop structure alalyzed by the program and any other passages with the same accent sequence located.     Analysis of Accent Sequence
● Masorah allows the searching of either the ketiv or qere forms of the text. There is also a function which searches for ketiv - qere pairs.   Toggle Qere/Ketiv   Find Ketiv/Qere Pairs
● Specific letter sequences can be sought with any attached vowels (nikudos) and tropes (te'amim). Masorah regards a vowel letter as a letter without consonantal value even it is one of the underlying root letters. The program provides for selecting among this large choice of vowel representations. Wildcards provide for finding vowels of any vowel group or for simply searching for any vowel or no vowel at all. Masorah can distinguish between qames gadol and qames qatan. The program can choose between the various classifications of dageshim: dagesh hazaq, dagesh qal, ate merahiq, dehiq, and euphonic dagesh (a dagesh not of any of the other types). If you are searching within the 21 books the prose accents are provided, otherwise the poetic accentuation system is employed. Masorah understands the difference between tropes using multiple or identical symbols, for example siluk and metheg, legarmeh and munah, revia' gadol, and revia' qatan. There are also ta'am wildcards of various kinds. With postpositive and prepositive accents, the program associates them with the consonant that has the tone. A rich set of consonant wildcard constructions are provided.
Three contexts of searching are distinguished. If consonants, vowels, and accents are recognized, then all these forms are taken into account.   Patah in Pause   In the context where only the consonants and vowels are considered, any associated te'amim are ignored whether or not they occur in the Biblical text.    Hatef Shewas     The context in which only the letter symbols are considered is similiar to the operation of the standard search engines. Here all letter symbols are treated equally and the vowel letters are simply symbols. Masorah offers all the searching functions of other search engines plus a number of functions not found elsewhere.    Same Letter Sequences
● The results of searches may be tested to see if they are in a given proximity to one another. Moreover, searches can be tested to see when they are not in proximity of each other.    Proximity
● The Bible can be searched for words whose length falls within a certain range.    Longest Words
● Results may be combined in a variety of "Logical" combinations. Examples of this are provided by a number of earlier screen shots.
● Masorah offers a large number of "Counting" functions. Screen shots of two of these are offered.     Counts and Middle Letters, etc.     Number of Words in Verses
